School Development Plan 2012-15

 

  • Academics and Learning
    • Increasing Mathematics and Language Arts Averages to 90% or above
      • Questions were raised regarding the value of the Reading Log (grades 1-6) as well as the ways in which Comprehension is currently being taught.
  • Increasing Communication Tasks average to 11
    • Questions were raised about the ways in which writing was taught and suggestions made on how this could be strengthened.
  • Improving Resource Programme
    • Concerns were raised about teachers not being able to identify special needs children. A workshop was done on this very topic at the beginning of the new school year.
    • Concerns were also raised about how students are transitioned to the next grade level and the fact that teachers needed to be made more aware of the needs of the students they were receiving for a new year.
  • Improvement in Special Subject Areas
  • Teacher Training
    • Working with Staff members to ensure that those who need additional certification are supported in this endeavour.
      • Suggestions were made for the school to consider bonding and using regular professional development as a sign of growth that can be used in determining promotions.
